Storing Frozen Foods

  • If you label each item with a description and a date before you place it in the freezer, you won’t need to play “guess that food” down the road.
  • A freezer setting of zero degrees or lower is safest. Watch those use-by dates. Putting older items toward the front can help prevent waste.
  • Since freezers are more efficient when they’re full, small bags of ice make great space-fillers
  • Properly prepared and packaged food should last for several months.

    Fruits and Vegetables: 8-12 Months
    Poultry: 6-9 Months
    Fish: 3-6 Months
    Ground Meat: 3-4 Months
    Cured or Processed Meat: 1-2 Months
